2020 Town of West Springfield Colleen
Kathleen Rose Beliveau
Kathleen is a senior student-athlete at West Springfield High School and four-time MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient as well as an athletic student ambassador. She has been a member of the varsity basketball and soccer teams for all four years, serving as captain of the basketball team during her junior and senior years. She is a member of the National Honor Society and is a four-time Renaissance Award recipient. She is an AP student and has served on the Honor Guard at graduation. With a GPA over 4.01, she received the Academic Excellence Award. In addition, she has earned the Italian Teacher’s Award.
Katie devotes her free time to volunteering in the community and at Baystate Medical Center as a Student Ambassador, participant in the Baystate Education Student Program, and as a volunteer in the Chestnut Surgery Center. She has volunteered for the Phil Coburn dinner for 11 years. She volunteers her time as a youth basketball coach and helps direct youth soccer clinics. She collects blankets for the Women’s Campanero Shelter, and socks and toiletries for homeless veterans. Katie volunteers at a local soup kitchen, Kate’s Kitchen, once every month.
Her extracurricular involvement at West Springfield High School includes being an active member on the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Board and athletic student ambassador. She is a member of the Key Club, Irish Cultural Club and has participated in the Irish Cultural Exchange Program. Katie has participated in Teenagers Against Bullying and Unify Against Bullying.
In her free time, Katie works as a babysitter, youth soccer referee and Suburban basketball scorekeeper.
She plans to attend a four-year university and hopes to earn a degree in physical therapy in the future.

No. You can go to other high schools, but you have to live in West Springfield.
You can be no less than 17 years old by March 17, 2018 and no older than 22 By March 17, 2018.
Unfortunately, no. You can not be married and also not have a child.
Once you submit your application, the Colleen Committee will review the application and contact you with information regarding the Colleen Tea.
The Committee President has the job of selecting the Judges for the events that day. The Colleen Committee does not meet the Judges until the day of the Interviews.
The Colleen is awarded a $1,000 Scholarship, various local donations, the tiara that she is crowned with, an Irish knit sweater, and memories to last a lifetime.
The Court members are awarded a $250.00 Scholarship, an Irish knit sweater, and memories to last a lifetime.
As always, the Court members and their families are encouraged to help with events and work on the Float.
